Best of Britannia

Britannia Building Society has picked up the title of 'Best Provider of Three-Year Fixed Rate Mortgages' at the annual Moneyfacts Awards.

The award recognises banks and building societies which have consistently provided customers with the best products over the previous 12 months. Britannia beat off lenders such as Alliance & Leicester and Yorkshire Building Society to pick up the accolade at an awards ceremony in London last week.

In judging the awards, the Moneyfacts panel looked for lenders who consistently offered the most competitive products, the highest levels of transparency and the greatest innovation.

Neville Richardson, Chief Executive of Britannia Building Society said: "This award is a great acknowledgement of the excellent products Britannia offers customers. By looking at the overall value of a mortgage and not just the headline rate, borrowers can save thousands of pounds and the judging criteria for the Moneyfacts Awards does just that.

"This Award sits well with our current marketing campaign - the True Cost Challenge - which shows borrowers how to look closely at the hidden costs of a mortgage - the administration fees, valuation charges, conveyancing costs and exit fees - and to consider if they are paying too much with other lenders, which they often are."
