Conveyancing at the click of a mouse
Customer feedback suggests that one of the biggest obstacles to completing a mortgage application online is that of sourcing a conveyancing solicitor to handle the house sale, purchase or remortgage.Yorkshire Building Society has just been awarded a Financial Innovation Award for its eConveyancer service which launched this year. David Cavell, one of the judges commented, “The Society are to be congratulated on an application that adds value for members and customers – whilst greatly increasing service levels and operational effectiveness. Real mutual values.”
The Society has developed, in association with the UTD Group who provide eConveyancing, a solution that streamlines the whole legal process. The system is already used by Accord Mortgages, Yorkshire Building Society’s specialist intermediary subsidiary as part of their broker offering. The challenge was to convert the business-to-business proposition and convert it to a business-to-consumer offering.
Initially eConveyancer was launched as a stand-alone offering to test the demand with full integration with the Society’s web and branch systems following as phase 2.
Nigel Hoath, Managing Director of eConveyancer, said: “We’re delighted Yorkshire Building Society’s innovative and totally unique legal service has been recognised with a Financial Innovation Award. The objective of the eConveyancer system is to make the process of selecting and instructing a conveyancer a fast, inexpensive and easy process. What’s more, homeowners can easily track the progress of their case online in real time. We look forward to continuing to develop the proposition with the team at Yorkshire Building Society.”
