Kumho enjoyed a major presence at recent Frankfurt Motor Show

25th October 2007 Print
Chevrolet Trax concept Kumho Tyres reflected its rapidly growing position in the European market with an increased presence at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show (13 – 23 September).

For example, those inspecting the innovative Mercedes-Benz Viano X-clusive show car would have seen that it was fitted with Kumho’s 245/45R18 ECSTA KU19 – Kumho will be the exclusive supplier for this special edition model when it is launched in Europe early next year.

Kumho’s latest products were also to be found on several other show models:

Mitsubishi Colt (205/45R16)
Chrysler’s new crossover, the 2009 Dodge Journey (225/55R19)
Chrysler Sebring Limited and Convertible (215/55R18)
Peugeot 107 Special Edition (175/50R15)

Perhaps less surprising was the fitment of Kumho rubber to the production spec vehicles of Korean car manufacturers Hyundai, Kia and SsangYong. However, not all the Kumho tyres exhibited were for mainstream models and the company had manufactured a number of bespoke tyres for some special Chevrolet models on display.

US and European OE breakthrough

For many years a significant supplier to its native Korean OEMs, Kumho is now rapidly obtaining business with the major European and US car manufacturers. For example, it was recently selected by DaimlerChrysler AG to supply tyres for the second generation A-Class range. Last year, Chrysler chose Kumho’s ECSTA KH11 for global fitment to its Sebring range.
