Motorpoint customers share £12.3 million savings
More than 2,500 customers bought cars during September from Motorpoint – the UK’s No1 car supermarket - but not at the recommended retail price. Instead they shared savings of £12.3m – an average of almost £5,000 each. The top saving of £14,492 went to the buyer of an automatic Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 DI-D Elegance. At the time of sale, the recommended price tag for this 14-month-old 06-plate car on a franchised dealer’s forecourt was £31,791. Motorpoint put the Shogun on sale at an astonishing £17,299.
“This is what the Motorpoint philosophy is all about,” said Managing Director David Shelton. “We source a great selection of top quality competitively priced new and used stock, and pass the large discounts on to our customers. The cost of car ownership in the UK is not helped by the kind of prices charged by franchised dealerships. This level of savings means Motorpoint customers can buy the cars they want, and still have a very merry Christmas.”
Customer choices at Motorpoint during September reflected national trends with Ford as the biggest selling brand but set its own trend with Renault in second place. Vauxhall came in third, and the most popular model was the Ford Focus.
