Upgrade your brakes to prevent accidents caused by brake fade

Upgrade your brakes to prevent accidents caused by brake fade Wet brakes can reduce braking capability – fitting performance brake discs could avoid some serious accidents claims a new report.

Removing moisture and the gases that build up between brake pads and discs on any vehicle is essential for maximum braking performance. Moisture creates a skating rink effect increasing the time it takes to stop a vehicle. In extreme cases this slippery barrier can result in serious ‘brake fade’ resulting in an accident.

Research revealed that a one-second delay in braking at 70 mph will cause a vehicle to travel an extra 102 feet, or seven car lengths further than a driver expects. According to the Department for Transport one in three of all car accidents happen as a result of a vehicle failing to stop in time. Some of these accidents are a result of brake fade claims the report.

Most drivers experience brake fade at some time. A driver will notice a split second delay and will not be quite sure if their vehicle is going to stop in time. It’s not as a result of driving too close, or too fast. It can happen to anyone and it can be avoided. Car Parts Direct claims to have the answer to help eliminate brake fade by using a specially designed performance brake disc.

The latest design of Rossini multi-drilled and grooved signature performance brake discs don’t only look terrific. They have grooves cut at exactly the right depth and angle to help clear moisture, brake dust and gases. Drilling cools the discs quicker and helps improve brake grip – instantly. The unique Rossini brake disc design has the manufacturer’s logo embedded into the disc face so any sign of uneven wear is quickly detected. When the logo eventually disappears you know that the disc thickness is down to the legal safety limit.

Mark Cornwall of Car Parts Direct said, “We regularly hear from customers who describe the ‘Brake Fade effect’ when ordering brakes. It’s often described as a heart stopping and frightening experience as it normally occurs when trying to brake after driving quite fast – it’s what Rossini discs are designed to deal with.”

Rossini brake discs are available for virtually every vehicle on the road and are a direct replacement for standard brake discs. Prices start from around £120 a pair depending on the make of vehicle. For information or to order visit carparts-direct.co.uk.
