12th December 2007 Print
The Government's THINK! road safety campaign has been recognised for its success in reducing road casualties over the last 20 years.

The campaign received a special anniversary award at the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards. The judges decided THINK!, which has produced innovative advertising covering issues such as drink driving, speeding, motorcycling and teen and child road safety, has been one of the two most successful initiatives in reducing road casualties since the awards were launched in 1987.

Road Safety Minister Jim Fitzpatrick said: "I am delighted that the THINK! campaign was recognised for its fantastic work alongside a number of other brilliant campaigns at the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards.

"The THINK! campaign's innovative approaches have helped reduce road casualties in Great Britain significantly in recent years but of course we will continue working to make our roads even safer."

The Highways Agency and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) were also honoured at the awards in the Public Education category. The Highways Agency Strategic Safety Action Plan, the VOSA and Highways Agency South East International Transport Pilot and the M25 Sphere Pilots all won awards.

The Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards are presented to individuals, companies or organisations in recognition of their outstanding contribution to improving road safety.
