GM Fleet sales grow in 2007

23rd January 2008 Print
GM Fleet saw its corporate car sales grow in 2007 with Vauxhall and Chevrolet leading the way for the organisation.

The Vauxhall brand grew sales to corporate customers by 5.5% last year, consolidating its number two position in the UK fleet sales charts. Vauxhall was one of only two brands in the top five to grow sales.

Vauxhall was also the only brand to feature four of its models in the top 10 fleet models ranking – Astra, Corsa, Zafira and Vectra - all of which increased sales compared to 2006. Vectra sales grew by 11.8%, the highest amount for a D-segment car - despite being in its last year of sales before being replaced by the Insignia model in late 2008.

The Vauxhall Zafira took top position in the fleet MPV segment achieving more than double the sales of its closest rival.

Chevrolet sales to fleet customers grew by 76.8%, the strongest increase by a generalist brand in 2007. Although a largely retail brand, 44% of Chevrolet sales were fleet, pointing to the brand’s growing popularity with fleet customers.

Saab launched the new 9-3 range to great acclaim and heads a new product offensive which will see the arrival of many new models including the production version of the 9-4X Concept crossover previewed at the Detroit Motor Show two weeks ago.

“2007 was a great year for the Vauxhall brand, and also for the wider GM Fleet portfolio,” commented Maurice Howkins, Director of GM Fleet Sales. “The GM Fleet offer of Saab, Vauxhall and Chevrolet in 2007, together with the integration of Cadillac and HUMMER, covered the needs of the majority of corporate customers, providing them a one-stop shop solution. In addition, our industry leading 3-day test drive initiative has really paid dividends this year, with customers and their drivers really appreciating the opportunity to properly test our cars.”

“With the launch of Insignia, plus many other new models in the GM portfolio, I expect 2008 to be an even better year for our customers.”
