Membership of Repair Methods Assessment Group widens

7th February 2008 Print
Membership of ReMAG, widened this week when ACFO named Clive Rolfe, General Manager, Elite Incident Management as their representative on the crash repair methods assessment group.

This move enables members of ACFO, the leading organisation representing and supporting the needs of all fleet operators, to join insurers, crash repairers, and other stakeholders in the development of a standard for comprehensive, timely and accessible repair methods; information which is crucial if vehicles are to be repaired safely back to their original Euro NCAP star rating.

Julie Jenner, Chairman of ACFO said “The professional fleet manager is well aware of their responsibility to ensure the vehicles in their fleet are fit for purpose. They must be confident that accident damaged vehicles can be repaired economically and above all safely. By joining ReMAG we can influence how and when that information will become available.

The UK fleet market consists of approximately 6 million vehicles (cars and LCVs) and we must make our views known. We want vehicles that are fit for purpose, within budget and, most importantly, we want to know that our drivers are safe.”

The first draft of the document is nearing completion and will be circulated for comment to the wider review group. Due to the resignation of the Society of Motor Manufacturer and Traders (SMMT), ReMAg will contact all vehicle manufacturers directly to ensure they have the opportunity to comment on the proposed standard.
