Toyota Sprint Series to be sponsored by Turbo Dynamics

8th February 2008 Print
Toyota Sprint Series to be sponsored by Turbo Dynamics Following the huge success of the first ever Toyota Sprint Series, which was held at Barkston Heath in October last year, 2008’s Series is set to be massive.

The bigger and better Series heralds the newly added sponsorship from leading names within the motorsport industry. Joining last year’s sponsors -Javelin Track Days, Fensport and Blitz - will be turbocharging specialists, Turbo Dynamics and vehicle manufacturer Toyota themselves.

As one of the leading turbocharger remanufacturers and hybrid turbocharger designers in the world, Turbo Dynamics will also be awarding prizes to competing drivers with the fastest TD turbocharged cars, within the different championship rounds.

Toyota Sprint Series Co-ordinator, Adrian Smith said of their new partnership, “We welcome the addition of Turbo Dynamics as a sponsor of the Toyota Sprint Series. A fair proportion of our entrants are using turbocharged cars and having the UK’s leading turbocharger experts on board is of great benefit to both the entrants and the series as a whole.”

TD Director, Peter Marsh commented, “It is a delight to be sponsoring such a dynamic and exciting event, which really does encourage everyone to compete. I have no doubts that it will prove to be a nail-biting event!”

Along with the added sponsorship, the event has expanded to incorporate five rounds and six different classes of vehicle.

Put together by Toyota car and motorsport enthusiasts, Adrian Smith and Barry Cross, the Toyota Sprint Series has been designed to be an affordable, alternative motorsport experience for competitors.

With points being awarded to drivers for a vast variety of reasons, including competing in each of the five championship rounds, drivers of all experiences with Toyotas models of all ages are encouraged to take part. This in turn, guarantees that the spectators will witness some very unique, fast-paced and exciting races.
Last year’s race alone saw spectators and competitors alike, travelling from as far a field as South Wales and the South Cost of England to be part of the event in Barkston.

This year’s championship rounds will be taking place at Waterbeach, Barkston Heath, Teesside (daytime and nighttime) and Woodbridge. Competitors will be entered into one of the six classes, which are based on the car’s fuel type and modifications.

The awarding system also encourages reliability over outright power and means that at the end of the series, all competitors will have an overall position.

Barry Cross explained, “The Toyota Sprint Series is a concept that Adrian and I have been working on for just under a year and I'm so pleased we now have the backing of some great motorsport companies enabling us to provide Toyota enthusiasts with an exciting race series for 2008 and beyond.”

He continued, “We have structured the Series to provide everyone with the chance to compete to win and give them the opportunity to move forward into the magical world of motorsport."
