Love is in the air for business car drivers

It’s nearly Valentine’s Day and GM UK Fleet, the country’s leading provider of business cars, has come over all romantic. And it seems that corporate drivers are an equally mushy lot! Surveying those who drive for business, GM Fleet asked what most drivers using GM’s three-day test drive programme would use the car for. The surprise answer was to take their partner on a romantic weekend.

Over half of the 8,500 on-line respondents who took part in the survey claimed that going on a break with their partner or spouse would be their preferred choice for putting one of GM’s models through its paces, be it a Vauxhall, Saab, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Corvette or Hummer.

Equally surprising, challenging the belief that they are hopeless in matters of the heart, it was mostly men who went for this romantic option. 55% of male drivers said that they would choose to use the three days for a romantic getaway with that special someone, compared to 48% of women.

And the destination? With 34% of the vote, Cornwall was the top choice, finishing ahead of the Western Isles of Scotland and the Gower Peninsula in Wales, two of the other most scenic areas in the country.

While romance was the most popular choice, having a weekend away with a group of friends or visiting family, as well as a photographic expedition and golfing holiday were high on the wish list of things to do during a three-day test.
