Fleet Business Show to focus on managing occupational road risk

A raft of expert advice on best practice occupational road risk management will be available at the 2008 Fleet Business Show, which is being held on April 29 and 30 in London, and RoadSafe will be one of the leading exhibitors.

With three months to go before the doors open on the Show, which is being held at the Business Design Centre, Islington, almost 50 of Britain’s leading vehicle manufacturers and fleet suppliers and advisers have already booked to attend.

And a packed seminar programme is designed to provide show visitors - managing directors, HR directors, finance directors, procurement specialists as well as fleet decision-makers - with up-to-the-minute fleet advice on key fleet issues.

With occupational road risk management top of the fleet boardroom agenda, Road Safety Minister Jim Fitzpatrick will be presenting the business case for ‘saving lives and saving money’ on April 30. Joining him at the seminar will be Nigel Wilkinson, head of health, safety and the environment at T-Mobile and one of the first ‘Business Champions’ under the Government’s ‘Driving for Better Business’ programme, which is being managed by RoadSafe.

On the opening day of the show, Inspector Tony Browne, manager of Hampshire Police’s Road Death Investigation Team, will tell delegates exactly what driver, vehicle and company information police officers require from bosses when they investigate a serious road crash involving an at-work driver.

Inspector Browne, who will be speaking in the same month that the long-awaited Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act is finally implemented, will be joined on the platform by Jon York, British Gas’s award-winning fleet operations manager, and another ‘Business Champion’, who has put numerous safety initiatives into action.

Other seminar speakers include Nigel Underdown, head of transport at the Energy Saving Trust, and tax experts from Deloitte & Touche Automotive Sector Group.

Joining RoadSafe in the exhibition arena will be a wide cross-sector of organisations including leasing and fleet management companies ALD Automotive, Hitachi Capital, ING Car Lease and Venson Automotive Solutions, Britain’s leading vehicle auction companies BCA, Manheim and the Fleet Auction Group, and vehicle manufacturers including Jaguar, Lexus and Skoda. Among other exhibitors will be cfc solutions, the Metropolitan Police, Northgate Vehicle Hire and Transport for London.
