ReMIT apprenticeships: a win for young people and for businesses

13th December 2005 Print
A second wave of Retail Motor Industry Training (ReMIT) apprentices are setting a hot pace in their careers by joining the prestigious ranks of Ferrari, under the Ferrari Modern Apprenticeship scheme.

They will follow a programme of ‘on the job’ and classroom training delivered by ReMIT - the training arm of the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) - at its Centre for Technical Excellence in Croydon.

‘I would like to congratulate these six young learners who have already demonstrated a high level of talent and commitment to a future in motor vehicle repair,’ said ReMIT managing director Stephen Ramsay. ‘They are ReMIT’s second wave of candidates working with Ferrari, and are setting a fantastic example to those thinking of joining an exciting, fast-paced industry.

‘Competition for these coveted Ferrari positions was ferocious: these young people are therefore a credit to themselves and, I am sure, will be to their future employers.’

He added: ‘Apprenticeships are good for young people, and good for the businesses that take them on. The apprentice develops skills and abilities that will last a lifetime, and the business gets to train a member of staff in the way they want, while at the same time see that young person make a real and important contribution. Everybody wins!’

The Ferrari Modern Apprenticeship Scheme was created in 2004 to produce fully qualified technicians with specialist product knowledge for the franchised dealer network.
