Fleets vote Thatcham Kitemark Best Safety Initiative
At the Fleet News Awards, the Thatcham BSI Kitemark was acknowledged as the Best Safety Initiative of the Year. The citation stated that entries had to show a proactive attempt to improve safety, produce results and make a difference. The Thatcham BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Body Repair was launched in January 2007. Repairers adopting the standard are able to prove their credentials, offering insurers and motorists the badge of quality, recognised by over 80% of UK adults.
The standard was developed by all bodies interested in the crash repair sector, and as such took into account all issues which affect safe, quality repairs. With vehicles chosen by fleet managers for their ability to protect occupants, it is crucial that those involved in accidents are repaired back to pre-accident condition, with the integrity of the vehicle maintained. To date over 63 repairers have gained Kitemark accreditation and more than 250 have applied.
Jason Moseley, Thatcham COO, who collected the award said “This acknowledgement of the importance of the Thatcham BSI Kitemark by Fleet News shows how important a safe, quality repair is to Fleet Managers. The UK crash repairer is one of the most committed in the world, they have driven this standard and all of us at Thatcham are honoured to be associated with this award winning initiative.”
All those involved with running a fleet will once again be welcomed to Thatcham this summer, as the research centre host their second annual Fleet Briefing, on the 18th June as part of the Triple Focus event. To register and find out more see thatcham.org/triplefocus
