Peak Performance wins Fleet Supplier of the Year award
Driver risk assessment and training company Peak Performance has beaten off stiff competition from major national companies to be voted ‘Fleet Supplier of the Year’ at the 20th Annual Fleet News Awards. The award was made in recognition of the high quality of support provided by the Derbyshire company to fleet operators to help them assess risk, improve safety and reduce costs within their fleets.
A high proportion of the 30 million vehicles on Britain’s roads are used wholly or in part for business use and recent figures show that 56% of new car purchases are funded by the corporate sector.
Peak Performance managing director, James Sutherland, received the award at a glittering presentation ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel (Monday, 10th March 2008). The event was attended by 1,300 people involved in the management of many of the company-owned vehicles on Britain’s roads.
One product that drew particular praise from the judging panel was the Fleet Driver Risk Index (FDRI). This enables companies running fleets of vehicles to put drivers through an on-line assessment to determine each driver’s individual risk level. Appropriate training can then be provided, if required. The system was developed in collaboration with Cranfield University in Bedfordshire.
FDRI uses a carefully constructed on-line questionnaire that can be accessed through any internet enabled PC. The answers given by a person completing the questionnaire provide an accurate indication of the risk of them having an accident when driving on business. The system has been adopted by a number of major British companies operating fleets of vehicles ranging from sales executives cars to heavy goods vehicles.
Mr Sutherland said that the judges were impressed by several aspects of the Peak Performance award submission. “They liked our overall portfolio of products and services and were impressed by our total commitment to supporting our partners and customers as evidenced by the very positive feedback we receive from them.
“One judge described the Fleet Driver Risk Index as superb and another that it reeks of professionalism,” he said. “The judges were also impressed by the work we have done in partnership with Cranfield University, saying that it adds academic credibility to the product.”
Based in Chesterfield, Peak Performance has established itself as a leading player in the specialised field of driver risk assessment. It works closely with major insurance companies to assist their clients first identify and then deal with the level of risk amongst those of their employees who either drive as their job or as a necessary part of it. The result is fewer accidents, increased safety for the employee, and lower insurance premiums.
