Set a budget before you go and try to put aside a small amount each month towards holiday spending. When you're there, try to stick to a daily budget, especially if you're on a self catering basis.

Get a range of denominations so you're not trying to buy small purchases with very large notes

Take a currency converter so you can easily work out how much things costs - it's easy to get confused when you're dealing with a new currency
