Holidaymakers missing out on travel money savings

3rd August 2009 Print
A survey currently being conducted by MoneySavingExpert.com has found that 18 per cent of couples expect a week's holiday abroad will cost them from £402 to £1002.

With this expense in mind, travel experts are strongly advising holidaymakers to use a prepaid card to save on their travel money. Prepaid cards offer significant savings over conventional means of payment, such as debit or credit cards and travellers' cheques.

With no monthly fee, no application fee, no transaction fee for purchases in shops and no ATM withdrawal fee, Caxton FX provides the best value prepaid card.

It also offers a very competitive exchange rate. For instance, the average MoneySavingExpert couple buying £1002 worth of currency at a bureau de change would save €104 or $146 if they used a Caxton FX card instead.

Even if you're not buying your currency from a Bureau de Change, Caxton exchange rates consistently beat high-street names such as Marks and Spencer, Travelex and Post Office. On 30th July, £1 would have bought you €1.1500 on a Caxton card. Yet on the same day, it would have bought you only €1.09 at Marks and Spencer, which is generally considered to offer some of the best rates on the market.

Jane Baker of www.LoveMoney.com, the popular money saving blog, has called the Caxton FX card a ‘star-buy' and says "There are lots of prepaid currency cards out there, such as the Travelex Cash Passport, the Fair FX Currency card and the Post Office Travel Card. But, I think there's only one real contender- the Caxton FX Currency Card."

Caxton offers three cards - one to use in the Eurozone, another for the USA, and the Global Traveller, which covers the rest of the world. For further information, visit caxtonfxcard.com.
