Harrods - A Congestion Free Zone

19th February 2007 Print
Mohamed Al Fayed Last weekend, Harrods Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed issued complimentary £8 Harrods Shopping Cards to those customers who had driven to the store in advance of today's western extension of the Congestion Zone which will include Harrods.

As a gesture to alleviate the inconvenience caused by the zone extension, Mr Al Fayed distributed brown envelopes each containing the £8 Shopping Card which can be used in conjunction with any other tender throughout the store.

There was even one lucky winner of an annual congestion zone pass. Mr Sawyer of Richmond, Surrey found the voucher inside his envelope and was thrilled with his discovery: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the envelope. I was getting so wound up about having to pay Livingstone's latest tax and now thanks to Mr Al Fayed's generosity I can come and go 'till my hearts content...well, at least for the next year!"

To make the transition as easy as possible for its customers, Harrods Rewards card holders will be given a Harrods voucher for £8 when they spend over £80 in the store between now and the end of March with proof of payment of the Congestion Charge. As well as this, Harrods has provided two Congestion Charge pay points; one adjacent to the Harrod Bank on the Lower Ground Floor and another at the Harrods Car Park in Brompton Place.
