Zoe Ball to host British Fashion Awards 2007

TV presenter and DJ Zoe Ball will host this year’s British Fashion Awards on Tuesday 27th November at Lawrence Hall, Westminster. Organised by the British Fashion Council and supported by Swarovski, the event celebrates the very best emerging and established talent within the British fashion industry, recognising designers and figures that have made a significant contribution over the past year.

The Awards are judged by a committee of top fashion media, retailers and influencers, which is chaired by Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue.

Zoe, has recently taken some time away from presenting to produce the film, “Always Crashing In The Same Car”, starring Richard E Grant & Paul McGann. On presenting the awards she said, “As someone who is passionate about clothes and accessories I am really excited to be part of this prestigious event”.

List of awards and nominees:

DESIGNER OF THE YEAR - A leading British designer of couture, ready-to-wear, knitwear or accessories who has directed the shape of fashion in the past year both in the UK and internationally.

Nominees - Anya Hindmarch , Luella Bartley, Stella McCartney

NEW DESIGNER - An innovative and directional designer who, in the past year, has emerged as an influential force in British fashion.

Nominees - Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh, Marios Schwab

RETAIL CONCEPT - A new or established retailer offering a new concept to the UK in the past year.

Nominees – The Shop at Bluebird, Dover Street Market, Marc Jacobs

MODEL - A British model who has contributed most to the international fashion scene in the past year.

Nominees - Agyness Deyn, Lily Cole, Irina Lazareanu

ISABELLA BLOW AWARD FOR FASHION CREATOR - A British stylist, make-up artist, photographer, art director or producer whose creativity has been a major inspiration and influence in the past year.

Nominees - Mert and Marcus, Michael Howells, Terry Jones

RED CARPET DESIGNER - A leading British designer of couture or ready-to-wear cocktail or eveningwear that has gained exposure at ‘red carpet’ events worldwide in the past year.

Nominees - Giles Deacon, Marchesa, Stella McCartney

MENSWEAR DESIGNER - A leading British designer of ready-to-wear and bespoke tailoring who has been instrumental in enhancing men's fashion in the past year.

Nominees - Christopher Bailey for Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Cassette Playa

ACCESSORY DESIGNER - The leading British designer of shoes, jewellery, millinery or accessories within the past year.

Nominees -Anya Hindmarch, Rupert Sanderson, Tom Binns

This year, in recognition of an outstanding career identifying, nurturing and championing British creative talent, the award for fashion creator has been dedicated to the late Isabella Blow and will be known as the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator.

On the night of the ceremony the BFC will also announce its BFC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, which recognises a figure who has made an impact on the industry internationally, throughout their career, judged by a committee of international fashion industry influencers. Only the winner for this award will be announced.

For the second year the BFC Fashion Enterprise Award sponsored by Swarovski will give £50,000 to a developing designer who is currently showing at London Fashion Week. The nominees must have been in business for a minimum of three years, have received New Generation funding in the last three years or be at a similar stage in their business. Only the winner of this award will be announced.
