The Gucci story

Beginning with the murder of Maurizio Gucci, the last Gucci in the company, and ending with the prosecution of former wife Patrizia Gucci, this film delves into the family's past, tracing the company's history from its humble beginnings to its heyday and its subsequent demise and rebirth under its Arab owners.

In the mid 1980s, Gucci is in turmoil. Aldo, once king of the empire, was languishing in an American jail, deposed by his upstart nephew, Maurizio. As company president Maurizio was determined to take control of Gucci. He buys out his cousins and changes the locks on the door of Aldo’s office in a very Italian coup.

Maurizio Gucci was killed shortly after selling his take to the Arab bank Investcorps and his violent death was the most tragic and baffling event in a long history of feuds and legal battles that had brought the family and the company to its knees.
