Craft and Design Experience 2008

25th April 2008 Print
Craft and Design Experience 2008 The Craft and Design Experience which has earned an enviable reputation for selecting only the very best professional designers, artists and craftsmen is being staged at Fawley Court, Henley on Thames from 16-18 May this year. As more and more people move away from mass-produced products on the high street to seek individual work handcrafted in Britain rather than imported from an overseas manufacturer many visitors select this event over others as strict vetting procedures by the organisers ensure no imported or bought-in products are at their event.

The event has become increasingly popular nationwide for the quality of exhibitors, the entertainment on offer and the fine, picturesque setting on the lawns of Fawley Court alongside the banks of the Thames. Visitors are able to shop for unusual contemporary items in a relaxing atmosphere, view a wide range of demonstrations or take part in various craft related workshops.

Design of the exhibitors’ products must be of the highest standard to be selected, and must show true innovation and originality ensuring only the very best in UK design is represented. Work on sale will include products from over 200 exhibitors working in many disciplines including furniture, textiles, jewellery, leatherwork, glass and more…

Following widespread interest last year, the organisers have once again arranged a Sculpture Garden as a centrepiece to the show featuring the work of over 40 artists from across the UK. Visitors will be able to see and purchase work in wood, stone, metal and more. Watch some of the sculptors at work and see the work take shape. Work of all sizes will be on display and for sale across a wide range of styles to suit all tastes.

As well as knowing that everything is produced in the UK, visitors will also be pleased to know that, as every exhibitor is a small business, there is very little wastage in their workshops and many use reclaimed materials to produce their work. Not only does this event provide the perfect opportunity to treat yourself, but you also feel better about what you are buying knowing it is not having a major impact on the environment!

Entertainment is provided from a wide range of professional musicians to enhance the ambience and provide the perfect day out for all the family – a traditional jazz trio, a critically acclaimed concert violinist and the award-wining Thames Valley Chorus. Children can participate in many of the workshops and some are designed specifically for them. In addition there is a storyteller to enchant children of all ages with magical stories and music from around the world. Much more than just another craft show – an experience.

Opening times are 10 am – 5 pm daily. Admission is £6.00 for adults or £5.00 for seniors. Children 5 – 14 £1.00. For further information visit Craftexperience.co.uk. Visitors purchasing tickets in advance for a reduced price will also receive a free copy of the 40 page colour show guide.
