30th May 2008 Print
London College of Fashion will be staging its annual BA graduate catwalk show at the fantastic fashion week venue the Royal Academy of Arts, 6 Burlington Gardens, on Thursday 29 May 2008.

Accompanied by a stunning display of work by students graduating in Fashion Photography, Illustration, Specialist Make-up, Fashion Styling and Photography, Footwear and Accessories; the event showcases the next generation of fashion industry stars.

Each year approximately 160 graduates from Womenswear, Menswear and Surface Textiles battle it out for a place in the coveted catwalk show; this year just 30 collections have made the cut, which was judged by a panel including Giles Deacon (LCF Leathersellers Designer in Residence). Just one will go on to win Collection of the Year, a new award for 2008, which is being judged by Mathew Williamson and Giles Deacon. The winner will receive a cash prize and the accolade of being the name to watch.

This year Baugur, whose fashion investments include Whistles, Karen Millen, Oasis and All Saints, have joined forces with London College of Fashion in a move that will see the company play a major role in the development of the next generation of global fashion leaders starting with sponsorship of the BA show.

Gunnar Sigurðsson, Baugur Chief Executive, said: “There are very few organisations in the world that can boast such a rich history of creativity and innovation as London College of Fashion. We are proud to support an organisation that is constantly pushing the boundaries and setting the standard by which all others are measured.”
