Gap to launch on Asos.com

Gap to launch on Asos.com Leading online fashion e-tailer, asos.com, announced that it will be boosting its already impressive line-up of brands by adding Gap clothing this Autumn. This announcement comes after asos.com reported a strong financial performance in its pre-close trading update, with sales for the 12 months to 31 March 2009 up 104% to £165m.

Starting in August 2009, asos.com will carry a variety of Gap products – from clothing to accessories – for women, men, kids and baby. The online fashion site will feature fall product from Gap, with plans to add additional merchandise from the holiday collection by Christmas 2009. Customers can continue to shop Gap’s full apparel offering in stores across the United Kingdom.

The addition of Gap takes the number of brands available on asos.com to over 800. asos.com has also signed a number of new brands for Summer 2009 including Mango, Hackett, Gant and Mini Boden. In February, asos.com also strengthened its offering with the launch of a branded kidswear offer, Little ASOS and its Designer brands floor.

Nick Robertson, Chief Executive, asos.com, said: "Choice is key to the asos.com proposition and we are delighted to welcome Gap onboard to further enhance the strength of our branded offering."

Stephen Sunnucks, President Europe & International Strategic Alliances, Gap Inc., said: "This is a natural extension for the Gap brand in the U.K., which builds upon the growth of our online division in the U.S. and the strong customer response to Gap brand product in Europe recently."

Opening its first U.K. store in 1987, Gap continues to offer clean, classic American apparel to customers. Gap Inc. now has over 3,100 stores across the globe, with more than 170 Gap brand stores in Europe.
