Olympic beauty The lives of Olympian Paula Radcliffe and actress Demi Moore seem world’s apart, but as Paula prepares for the Olympic marathon, and Demi for the launch of two new films (Happy Tears and Bunraku) the two stars both have the same Aboriginal remedy to partly thank for their success.

Paula has unfortunately been plagued with injuries of late, and despite lining up for the Olympic marathon is still not fully fit. Prior to the 2003 Flora London Marathon Paula was also injured, having been involved in a collision with a cyclist whilst out training, but she found an unusual Aboriginal remedy helped her recover. Paula rubbed emu oil into her injuries and praised the Aussie oil for helping her get fit in time to run the marathon, and in the process set a new World Record.

However it’s not just athletes that can benefit from emu oil and several Hollywood stars, including Demi Moore, famed for her young looks, supposedly swear by its anti-aging properties with other emu oil product fans including younger celebrities such as Beyonce Knowles.

The reason that Australian emu oil has become such a popular skin care product is down to several unique properties. Firstly emu oil is a fantastic moisturiser, both adding moisture to the skin and keeping it locked in, but, unlike many other oils, comedogencity tests show it doesn’t clog up pores and won’t cause irritation. Emu oil has also been shown 3,4 to act as a natural anti-inflammatory so could help sooth problem skin and, as recently pointed out by Dr Chris Steele MBE on the This Morning show, may help with conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Perhaps most importantly however are emu oil’s claimed rejuvenating properties which may well make it one of very few true anti-aging products. Studies have shown that when emu oil is applied to skin defects the skin cells re-grow quicker than normal, up to twice as quickly, 1, 2 meaning that the skin can repair and heal itself at a faster rate. Not only does this have huge anti-aging ramifications but the cell regenerating properties have also drawn attention from those looking to speed up wound healing and reduce the appearance of scars.

Whilst scientists are not entirely sure how emu oil acts it is believed that a unique combination of important fatty acids, vital for healthy skin, act as nutrients to keep it in peak condition.

Golden Emu Oil is Europe’s leading brand of emu oil and is of the highest quality available, being Australian pharmaceutical grade. There is a large range of Golden Emu Oil skin care products available ranging from a pure emu oil to a luxurious hand and body lotion.
