Young women still ignoring perils of the sun

However 36-65 year old women who choose to tan skin before a holiday use sprays and lotions and one of their biggest worries on holiday was being protected from the sun.
Nearly all the women in all groups said they were generally happy with their body appearance overall, though the tummy area seemed to cause most concern. Younger women remain heavily influenced by celebrities and the media when it comes to body image, whilst older women said shops and their family impacted upon how they felt about themselves.
Denise Leslie, owner of Laserase Northwest said: “It’s still disconcerting to find that despite the well publicised dangers of the sun and sun bed use, women under 35 are ignoring the medical evidence which shows the damage caused to the skin. However, it’s interesting to note that older women who are starting to get lines and wrinkles are trying to ensure the situation does not get worse by being very aware of the dangers of the sun and sun beds.
“Laserase regularly treats fine lines and wrinkles caused by age and sun damage using state of the art lasers and we always impress upon our clients the danger of the sun and the importance of wearing skin block at all times – even on cloudy days here in the UK.”
