Tesco bargain skincare outsells big name brands
A £1.79 face cream - Q10 Derma intensive+ anti-wrinkle Day Cream – has out-sold leading brands, such as Nivea, Olay, Loreal and Garnier, to become the number one best selling facial moisturiser at supermarket Tesco.Responding to recent research*, showing that prices haven’t featured so highly on shoppers’ concerns since the 1980s, Tesco launched the exclusive Q10 Derma Intensive skincare brand six weeks ago as part of its move to become Britain’s biggest discounter.
The range, including specific products for day, night and the delicate eye area, sold more packs than the entire Garnier Facial Moisturiser range put together - equating to 1.5 packs sold every minute.
It has also outsold the Nivea Q10 range by more than 150 times over: Q10 Derma Intensive Day cream outsold by more than 64 per cent, Q10 Derma Intensive Night Cream outsold by more than 39 per cent and the Q10 Derma Intensive Eye Cream outsold by more than 55%.
Q10, the active ingredient within the Q10 Derma intensive+ range formulation, is acclaimed as a ‘hero’ skincare ingredient by beauty aficionados. The powerful anti-oxidant properties help to neutralise free-radicals; the main cause of cell deterioration. Increasing levels of Q10 in the skin stimulates it to repair and regenerate for improved elasticity.
* Tesco customer research carried out earlier in the summer with more than 20,000 customers showed that price is now the number one priority.
