Ronaldo masterclass caps Kumho’s big match day Stormy weather may have temporarily dampened the spirits of some supporters and put the wind up the awning of Kumho’s ‘event zone’, but the home team’s football at Kumho Tyres’ Big Match Day at Old Trafford on March 29 was a sight to behold. The man of the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo, put on a masterclass in a team performance that several commentators described as ‘mesmeric’.

This was indeed a big day for MU platinum sponsor Kumho, whose European President, HS Lee, hosted the VIP occasion for top European guests and senior company personnel. The home team mascot was Callum, the 10-year old son of the owner of Kumho retailer Cirencester Tyre & Exhaust Centre. Just before kick-off the lucky Callum had a spell passing the ball around with footballing legends Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes – something he will surely remember for the rest of his life. Half time in the match was given over to a penalty shootout on the pitch between two teams comprising representatives of Kumho distributor Micheldever Tyres and three Birmingham-based Kumho ECSTA Performance Centres.

Said a Kumho Tyre UK spokesman, “We and our guests had a great day at Old Trafford and Manchester United really gave us the red carpet treatment. There are many facets to our platinum sponsorship of MU and following a very successful national radio advertising campaign, the Big Match Day gave us yet another opportunity to build on the excellent brand exposure we are already achieving through our association with the world’s most popular football club.”
