Beverley Knight sings praises of new super food

Soul singer sensation Beverley Knight sings the praises of the superfood Spirulina which she believes helps her to stay fit, healthy and well. Knight, 33, follows a strict fitness regime to keep her strong and agile to meet the demands of her successful music career.

A self-confessed ‘vocal athlete’, she rates Spirulina for its cleansing and energising properties and takes it regularly to fight off the threat of colds – any singer’s biggest worry.

“Spirulina is really energising and cleansing and I take it to keep me in top physical health,” says Knight. “It’s an essential part of my daily diet as it supports my fitness regime and gives me the stamina I need for singing – especially when on tour when the physical demands are high.”

Beverley, who is touring throughout the UK between 22nd October and 1st December, takes MicrOrganics Hawaiian Spirulina - one of the world’s most pure and potent strains. It is widely available at health food stores including Fresh & Wild, Planet Organic, As Nature Intended, Revital and the new Whole Foods Market in Kensington. It’s also available online at Microrganics.co.uk.

Spirulina is a microscopic blue-green alga that grows naturally in warm and highly alkaline lakes in tropical areas. It is nature’s richest whole food source of complete protein and is highly recommended by nutritionists for its almost complete absorbability.

It contains the entire anti-oxidant spectrum and is the only known whole-food source of Phycocyanin, a powerful immune stimulant. Low in sodium and cholesterol, it also contains vitamin E, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6, plus 14 minerals including iron, selenium, copper, manganese and zinc. All these vitamins and minerals are bonded to the amino acids, making them far easier for the body to assimilate.
