Helping to put a stop to the pain is Gaviscon Double Action which offers all the soothing relief you need, plus the extra power of two acid-neutralisers to help end your suffering and allow you to get on with your day.
Gaviscon Double Action works with the power of two to quickly relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion, including stomach discomfort caused by excess acid, burning pains in the chest area, and mild acid regurgitation.
It soothes heartburn by forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents
And helps to neutralise the excess stomach acid to relieve the pain and discomfort of indigestion.
So what are the main causes of heartburn and indigestion?
Food and drink – what and how you eat:
- Fatty foods tend to stay in the stomach longer, as fat is slower to digest
- Foods such as chocolate and mint may have a relaxant effect on the sphincter (the ring of muscle) at the entrance to the stomach, resulting in acids being able to sneak back into the oesophagus
- Spicy foods and onions and tomato products can also be triggers
- Caffeinated drinks and alcohol can increase the acidity in your stomach
- Seriously hot drinks and citrus juices can also act as triggers
- Eating a big meal can cause your stomach to create too much acid whilst overfilling it with food can create pressure which allows the acid to escape
- Eating irregularly or too quickly can prevent acid levels in the stomach from having enough time to regulate
- Eating on the go or just before bed makes it easier for acid to escape back into the oesophagus (otherwise known as the food pipe)
Other causes of heartburn and indigestion are some medicines, being overweight, wearing very tight clothes and smoking.
Gaviscon Double Action is available in both tablets and liquid formats; the liquid variety comes in either a peppermint or aniseed flavour for easy and soothing consumption. Both formats contain the active ingredients; Sodium Alginate, Sodium Bicarbonate and Calcium Carbonate to get to the cause of the pain fast.
