Stars come out for Reigate retirement home

13th August 2009 Print
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded Priors Mead retirement home in Reigate with an ‘excellent three star rating’ – the highest possible in the industry.

The rating came after an unannounced inspection in May, where CQC staff awarded the health and personal care, daily life and social activities and environment with an excellent standard.

The report also found staffing, management and administration to be of good standard.

“We are delighted to have been given the ‘excellent’ standard,” says Nick Bruce, co-owner of Nightingales Retirement Care, which runs Priors Mead.

“That rating is the equivalent to a Michelin star in the retirement care industry. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic staff.”

The report praises the home’s menu, activities like this year’s VE Day party, and the flexible attitude staff have towards guests, allowing them to get up or go to bed when they like.

Nightingales Retirement Care runs two homes as well as a homecare service. The homes are modelled on boutique hotels, with delicious home-cooked food, a packed activity programme including trips to London and Wii computer game tournaments, and complimentary wine and sherry for guests.
