Marcia Cross Compares IVF Twins To Winning The Lottery

Marcia Cross was "terrified" when she discovered she was having twins. The 'Desperate Housewives' actress - who gave birth to twin daughters earlier this year - was shocked when an ultra sound scan revealed she was expecting two babies.

Marcia told Hello magazine: "I was absolutely terrified! Now of course, it's just like I won the lottery because I have two daughters and it's really just fantastic."

Eden and Savannah were born at a Los Angeles hospital on February 20. Marcia, 45, openly admitted she and her husband Tom Mahoney used IVF treatment to help them conceive.

She added: "Many women delay motherhood these days. I feel very fortunate to have become a mother in my 40s.

"That's why I don't want to put out any fantasy that you can just do that forever and then just pop out twins."

Marcia - who married Tom last year - was put on bed rest a month before the birth as a precuationary measure, due to the strain of the extra weight she was carrying.

The flame-haired actress continued to shoot scenes for 'Desperate Housewives' after producers set up cameras in her home and filmed there for two days.
