Jessica Alba Voted Sexiest Female Super-Hero

Superheroes are famed for their extraordinary powers, such as the ability to fly, incredible strength or invisibility. But a new film poll from cinema legends Pearl & Dean shows that the greatest superheroes have a lot of pulling power too.

In a poll of 3000 visitors to Pearlanddean.com last month, film fans were asked to vote for the sexiest male and female superheroes in the movies.

Jessica Alba was the clear favourite in the female category – more than a quarter voted for her portrayal of The Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four (2005). Jessica’s fans will be looking forward to the release of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer across UK cinemas this Friday. The popular Californian pin-up is now an established favourite with UK males, after being voted the world’s sexiest women by lads mag FHM earlier this year.

Jennifer Garner took second place for her role as deadly assassin Elektra with 11% of the vote, closely followed by former Bond girl Halle Berry as Storm in the X-Men film series.

It seems many men haven’t forgotten the charms of Helen Slater in 1984 film Super Girl either. She tied with Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl in fourth place.

2. Jennifer Garner as Elektra (Daredevil / Elektra) 11%
3. Halle Berry as Storm (X-men) 9%

Hugh Jackman, who played the muscle-bound Wolverine in the X-Men films, stormed his way to the top of the male superheroes chart, taking 24% of the vote.

Christian Bale took second place for his popular portrayal as Batman in 2005 Batman Begins, beating Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman and Nicholas Cage as Ghost Rider into third and fourth places respectively. Brandon Routh was in fifth place – he only got 2% of votes for his lycra-clad turn as Superman in Superman Returns.

The results are from a poll of around 3,000 visitors to Pearlanddean.com in May and June 2007.

The combination of toned bodies, incredible powers and the all-important tight-fitting costume on the big screen is too appealing to resist. Although it looks like underpants-over-the-trousers look hasn’t worked so well for Superman.”
