Pauline Quirke launches performing arts school
The New Year sees the launch of the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) in Bournemouth, one of a new generation of weekend performing arts schools opening across the UK.PQA’s weekend classes are aimed at children aged from 6 to 18 with the focus firmly on fun.
Tanya Alanson of PQA Bournemouth explains more:
“I’m very excited about the launch of PQA Bournemouth and delighted to be able to offer children in the area a whole new experience in performing arts. PQA offers children the opportunity to get involved with all areas of performing arts from dancing, singing and theatre to comedy and television. At its core, PQA is designed to help children gain confidence, make friends and have fun.”
Modules at PQA include drama and comedy, musical theatre and film and television, a unique offering in which students become familiar with the different acting styles required for camera work and learn how a television or film production is created.
As well as the regular weekend classes, PQA also provides courses which take place over the school holidays where students will have the opportunity to work towards an end performance. From ‘Make a Musical’ where students write, devise and perform their own short musical, to film making to devising their own plays, there’s an option for everyone and it’s a great way to keep the kids happy and entertained.
Tanya is a mum of four, with previous involvement in youth theatre and is thrilled that PQA has given her the opportunity to pass on her skills and experience to local children.
