Celebrities share their childhood crushes The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has teamed up with some of its celebrity supporters to reminisce about their childhood crushes for the charity’s Valentine Appeal. Valentine’s offers the perfect opportunity to share memories, cringe and daydream about your first crush.

From those poster covered walls, to those awful first dates – celebrities have been dishing the dirt to the BHF on their first crushes and have revealed some fantastic tales.

TV presenter, Sara Cawood, confesses: “What can I say about Phillip Schofield and Gordon the Goffer – they’re just fabulous! I had the biggest crush on Philip when I was younger - one of my main memories as a child is of The Broom Cupboard. Edd the Duck just doesn’t compare!”

Former ‘House of Tiny Tearaways’ Presenter and co-writer of ‘The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle’, Dr Tanya Bryon reminisces: “I remember thinking The Bay City Rollers, were gorgeous as I used to imagine them singing each and every one of their songs for me. My heart leapt at the chance of being transported back to one of their concerts to help the British Heart Foundation.”

The Bill star, Bruce Bryon, remembers his crush like it was only yesterday: “Blondie was definitely by biggest childhood crush. She personified cool for me, a complete blond bombshell! Maria, Heart of Glass, Hanging on the Telephone – they’re all timeless classics!”

Other famous faces sharing their first crush stories with the BHF include current WBO World Cruiserweight boxing champion, Enzo Maccarinelli, whose legs went to jelly at the thought of Weird Science star Kelly LeBrock; Sports Presenter Gabby Logan who had a soft spot for tennis ace John McEnroe; ‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter Amanda Lamb, who daydreamed over Morten Harket from the band Aha and former Emmerdale and Bad Girls actress Claire King who fell head over heels for Donny Osmond.

Join the celebrities and get involved in the BHF Valentine Appeal this year by giving a gift that saves lives to help raise £1million to fund BHF Heart Nurses and the Heart Help Line. From finding that perfect Valentine’s gift, to declaring your love in a BHF Shop window, there are many fun and adventurous ways to enjoy Valentine’s this year.
