Ben’s Brother nominated for Ivor Novello Award

21st April 2008 Print
Jamie Hartman, singer/ songwriter with chart-storming London band Ben’s Brother, has been nominated for the ultimate songwriting accolade, the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically & Lyrically.

His song, Let Me Out, taken from 2007’s Beta Male Fairytales, faces a rather unique situation in that it is nominated against one artist who takes up the other two slots. Previous winners of the award include KT Tunstall, Will Young, The Streets and Radiohead.

The song was written by Jamie and collaborator Rosi Golan and was a top forty chart hit and top 10 on airplay. Previously, Jamie as a songwriter has worked with, and written for, the likes of Natalie Imbruglia, Will Young, Emma Bunton, Lee Ryan, Jack McManus, Lemar and Nate James.

Ben’s Brother have just finished their first US tour taking in the SXSW music festival and are currently in the middle of their third sold-out headline tour to support the UK release of “Stuttering (Kiss Me Again)”. The single has already taken the US and Canada by storm after being used in a hugely popular chewing gum commercial and is released to buy on Monday 28th April after rising rapidly up the download charts.

The debut album Beta Male Fairytales will be re-released on 28th April to include “Stuttering (Kiss Me Again)”.

Ben’s Brother are: Jamie Hartman (lead vocalist), Kiris Houston (keyboards/guitar), Dan McKinna (bass) Dave Hattee (drums) and Tim Vanderkuil (guitar).
