Daddies Sauce has named Peter Andre the ‘Daddy of the Year 2008’ after winning a public vote of mums across the UK. Daddies and the newly crowned ‘Daddy of the Year’ Peter are hoping to raise the profile of Dads across the Nation this Father’s Day.

Devoted Dad Peter Andre won the poll receiving 38% of the vote. Of his win Peter says, “To be recognised as a great Dad by the public is a huge honour, I love being a Dad and spending time with my kids, they mean the world to me.”

A large number of British Dads will wake up on the morning of June 15th to no cards, presents or attention and it is time to start celebrating them because Dads are pretty important people after all.

Father’s Day often lives in the shadow of Mother’s Day and it would be unheard of for a Mum to not get flowers, presents or at least a card on their special day. Poor Dads often get neglected and go without anything at all; Royal Mail statistics show that over 13 million Mothers Day cards are sent each year in comparison to only 7 million Father’s Day Cards.

Recent research shows that kids even think the name ‘Father’s Day’ is a bit of a turn off as very few children call the Dads ‘Father’ any more. Only 4% of Dads said that they are regularly referred to as Father by their kids and a whopping 62% of Dads surveyed said that ‘Daddy’ is the preferred term used by kids. That’s why this year Daddies Sauce is campaigning to update the name to ‘Daddies Day’ with the hope that Dads across the UK will start to see the attention that they deserve.

89% of the Dad’s polled said that their kids would make their Mums breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day and only 11% said that they would receive the little luxury this June 15th. To help redress the balance Daddies Sauce has created limited edition ‘Happy Daddies Day’ versions of their famous brown and tomato sauce 400g bottles with one thing in mind, celebrating Dads across the nation this Father’s Day.

The top five dads:

1st Peter Andre – 38%
