Zoe Lucker to front new home makeover show

UKTV Style, Britain’s leading lifestyle channel, has commissioned an ambitious new homes series to be fronted by Zoe Lucker. Commissioned by UKTV’s director of commissioning, factual and factual entertainment, Jane Rogerson, ordered by director of lifestyle and factual, Jane Mote, and developed by commissioning editor, factual and factual entertainment, Catherine Catton Love the Place You're In will be produced by talkbackThames.

The ten part series which airs in October is a brand new concept which reflects the current changes in the housing market and how the credit crunch is affecting would-be buyers.

The days of viewing a house purely in investment terms is over – Love the Place You’re In encourages viewers to see their house as their home – a haven to look forward to coming back to after a hard day at work.

Currently renovating her own home and expecting the imminent arrival of her first child, Zoe Lucker is perfectly cast as the voice of the real homeowner. She’s joined by interior designer Gordon Whistance (Changing Rooms) who will cast his expert eye over the properties and psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos (Big Brother) who will provide a fascinating insight into the minds and behaviour of the homeowners. Together they will meet with families whose homes no longer meet their needs - from children who are turning into teenagers, a recent divorce or someone who needs to work from home. In the past people might have moved but in today’s climate more and more will have to learn to make the most of their home.

Filmed in a loosely formatted style, Love the Place You’re In will use a consultative process to get to the root of what each family really needs from their home and show the contributors how to transform their homes themselves. This isn’t about an opportunity to turn a profit but about real people falling back in love with their homes.

UKTV’s commissioning editor, factual and factual entertainment Catherine Catton comments, “I’m delighted to be working with Zoe, as someone going through her own renovation she will really be able to empathise with the homeowners”. She continued, “As the credit crunch starts to bite and the housing market declines, Love the Place You're In is a timely series that is about viewing your home as a nest, not a nest egg.”

Zoe Lucker says, “I'm really pleased to be presenting this new show, I'm currently renovating my own home so can really identify with the contributors and will hopefully learn some tips of my own as well as giving them advice!"

Love the Place You’re In is executive produced by talkbackTHAMES’ John Comerford and Camilla Lewis alongside UKTV’s commissioning editor, factual and factual entertainment Catherine Catton, and series produced by Jenny Cole.

John Comerford comments, "What's exciting about Love the Place You're In, is that it's all about falling in love with your home again and turning it into the space you've always dreamt of."
