As the Queen of Pop’s 50th birthday looms this weekend, the former cone-corseted singer’s dance floor filler ‘Like a Prayer’ has been voted her best song of all time according to a new poll of more than 1,200 Madonna fans conducted by MSN Entertainment (entertainment.uk.msn.com).

The song achieved 30% of the votes, fighting off competition from other top hits including Vogue (15%), Like a Virgin (13%) and Papa Don’t Preach (11%). The classic ‘Like a Prayer’ album also topped the poll as Madonna’s best securing 19% of the votes, narrowly beating ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘True Blue’ (both 18%), whilst the iconic ‘Like a Virgin’ came in fourth with 13%.

As far as the star’s future music ventures go, Madge’s fans most want her to duet with fellow icon Kylie Minogue (20%), ahead of hip hop star Kanye West (16%) and ‘Back to Black’ artist Amy Winehouse (13%).

Shock Value

When it comes to being controversial, ‘Like a Prayer’ again comes up trumps, with Madonna’s portrayal of a Black Christ in the song’s music video being voted her most infamous moment (31%), beating other well-publicised moments including the publication of photography book, ‘Sex’ (26%) and her kiss with Britney Spears at the MTV Music Awards (23%).

Love & Marriage

If fans are to be believed, Madonna and Guy can fix their marriage, with 73% claiming they stand a chance. However, her husband appears to have some stiff competition in the form of Madonna’s 1980s ex-Sean Penn as he was voted equal first (40%) with Guy as her ultimate soul mate.

Fashion Faux Par

From fishnets to bling, Madonna has donned them all, and of all her fashion moments, the golden cone corset (28%) has been voted as the best to date, beating her 80s Marilyn Monroe look (23%) and the black bangles and fingerless gloves (17%) garb.

Aging Beauties

The music chameleon’s talent for reinvention has ensured her illustrious career and been the envy of her peers, however it’s not enough to warrant the title of Sexiest Female in their 50s. Madonna was beaten to the accolade by ‘Up, Close & Personal’ actress, Michelle Pfeiffer (33%) and former Sex and the City star, Kim Cattrall (15%).

As she enters her fiftieth year fans are most keen for Madge to continue releasing albums (30%), followed by writing her autobiography (23%) and a significant number (15%) want her to produce ‘Madonna the Musical’.

MSN Entertainment Editor Mike Lok says: “Madonna is one of the greatest pop acts of all time and has managed to keep up with the times with her constant reinvention. Despite the fact that the songs and fashion statements of her early career seem to appeal most to fans, we’re sure she’ll continue to release great new tracks and wow us with the latest fashion statements for years to come.”
