Posh and Becks are the ‘pairfect’ couple

10th November 2008 Print
From dynamic duos to perfect pairs, the best things always come in twos and this month Posh and Becks have been named the best celebrity match of all time, according to a new survey of 11,000 people by Microsoft’s BigSnapSearch.com.

The study into the nation’s favourite celebrity matches was commissioned to celebrate the launch of the BigSnapSearch.com, a search engine based on the classic family card games snap that gives you the opportunity to win prizes each time you search - if the cards shown on screen are a matching pair then you’re a winner!

Half of the UK voters in the poll (50%) thought Victoria and David Beckham were a perfect snap! as they were voted the most iconic 21st century couple in Britain, however it seems that the recent rocky patch has left Brits thinking Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole and footballer Ashley Cole are a mismatch as just 11% of people thought they were a good couple.

Golden pairing

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are a ‘snap made in heaven’ as they have been voted the most iconic screen duo of all time with 35% of the votes. ‘Brangelina’s’ off-screen chemistry beat movie starlet Elizabeth Taylor and husband five and six, Richard Burton (21%) as well as dancing pair Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (20%).

Going to the Chapel

Prince William and Kate Middleton are the celebrity couple hotly tipped to make their match official, with 53% of voters predicting they would be next head down the aisle and presenter Fearne Cotton and her heartthrob partner Steve Jones came in second place with 15%. Paparazzi favourites and celeb couple of the moment, Kelly Brook and rugby star Danny Cipriani came in third place with 13% of votes.

A Soapy Match

Jack and Vera Duckworth scooped the award for best British soap match of all time with almost a third (31%) of votes, narrowly beating EastEnders 'macho' men, Phil and Grant Mitchell (29%). Eastenders’ Ricky and Bianca Butcher and Den and Angie Watts were joint third, each polling 15% of the votes.

Game, Set, Snap

When it comes to the nation’s favourite sporting duo, British ice skaters, Torville and Dean (45%) are a match made in heaven, spinning past tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams (24%) and rowing double act Sir Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pincent (12%) who lagged behind in third place.

Double Trouble

French and Saunders were seen as two of a kind and were voted best comic pairing of all time, securing 24% of the votes. The couple gained a few more chuckles than The Two Ronnies (22%), Morcambe and Wise (21%) and Little Britain stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas (18%), whilst the Krankies were not such a perfect match and polled in last place with 2% of votes.
