RBS: Government proposals for new learner driving regime

7th May 2008 Print
Commenting on the Government's proposals for a new learner driving regime, Andy Goldby, Director of Motor Underwriting at RBS Insurance (owner of Direct Line and Churchill), said: "We welcome the Government's consultation on driver training and testing. We are keen to work with the Government to develop a system that produces safer novice drivers and reduces the appalling number of deaths and serious injuries on our roads.

"We are pleased to see proposals to encourage young people to take advanced post-test driving courses. However, whilst an incentive to take these courses could be reduced insurance premiums, we would need to see sustained evidence of improved driving standards and reduced accident rates."
