Coleen – A positive role model for aspiring models
TV presenter and businesswoman Coleen Rooney knows that, like it or not, she’s a role model to thousands of girls, teenagers, and young women across the UK. That knowledge is reflected in the concept behind her show Colleen’s Real Women, which gives normal women a chance to realise their dream of becoming a model. It’s reflected in plenty of other ways too, like how she behaves when she’s out on the town. Sure, she likes to enjoy herself with her old friends, but you won’t find her being escorted from a nightclub by her minders in the wee small hours of the morning.
She takes that same practical, down to earth attitude to eating, nutrition, and exercise. "As long as you're sensible it's easy to stay in shape,” she says. “I try to eat well most of the time but I'm only human.”
For all these reasons, Rooney has become an inspiration to many young people who are interested in a modelling career.
According to Damian O’Connor, Managing Director of one of the UK’s largest modelling agencies, Models Direct, Rooney’s hugely popular show and the personal example she sets have encouraged plenty of people to try their hand at career in modelling.
“Coleen is a positive role model and great inspiration for thousands of young people all over the UK who dream of becoming a model,” says O’Connor.
“We’ve certainly noticed that new models signing up with us have benefited from the encouragement that Coleen’s show offers. It’s a really valuable behind the scenes look at what it’s like to work as a model.”
“It’s great for young people and their parents to know that it is possible to achieve success and still remain down to earth and unchanged as a person,” says O’Connor.
Rooney, whose sister Rosie suffers from a genetic illness called Rett Syndrome, also carries out fundraising work for hospice charities.
