A Celebration Of Brewing And Art

'Beer Futures’ is a happening of beer tasting and revelry at the closing party of the world's first supergroup illustration exhibition, 'Production Lines'. Art collective 4WALL have teamed up with an astonishingly diverse group of breweries and beer companies to celebrate brewing tradition, Bermondsey and Britishness. Hosted inside London's only spectacularly pink and orange Fashion and Textile Museum, this is a brew with a twist.

The afternoon event will be a relaxed and light hearted stagger from bar to bar, meeting the brewers themselves, learning about the brewing process and sampling everything from good old Fullers’ ‘London pride’ and Utobeer’s primitive and extremely rare Lambic Beers, to seriously rock ‘n’ roll brewery ‘Thornbridge’ and their crazy ‘Jaipur’ India inspired lager.

Let Jasper Cuppaige, heir of ‘McLaughlins’ Brewery in Queensland and mastermind behind London’s most positively reviewed brewpub, ‘The Horseshoe, Hampstead’, tell you all about his famous summer ale and the 100% traceable British ingredients he swears by.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more showbiz, we have twisted the arm of director, novelist and Oscar nominated screenwriter, Stephen Night to play a part. Along with his brothers Mike and Richard, he set up ‘Brothers Brewing Company’ and 4WALL will be sampling their Organic Lager, Pilsner and Red Ale to the crowd.

In addition, 4WALL are overcome with excitement to announce the production of their very own brew, which will be unveiled in all its artistic glory on the day by The Thornbridge Brewery. These guys are the Timothy Leary’s of the brewing world, determined to make beer de rigeur. (And they’re from Sheffield). They even made a ‘Richard Hawley Beer’ for this year’s Mercury Award nominee and ex Pulp Guitarist. The beer was given out at store appearances and snapped up by the movers and shakers at Mute Records.

For the past three months, 4WALL have been working in collaboration with London’s best art schools to produce a special ‘Beer Futures’ beer mat. The winning student designer will win a place in our gallery and agency, alongside our illustration heroes, and the beer mat will go off to be commercially produced and distributed nationally.

Teamed with readings and activities by UKTV’s worldly wise impresario beer writer Pete Brown, set against the backdrop of world class, accessible contemporary art, Beer Futures promises to create a social mix like no other and expose something new to everyone.
