Do Something Different The Barbican is celebrating its 25th Birthday next year and 25 landmark events throughout 2007 have been programmed embodying the vision of the arts programme. On the actual birthday weekend, Saturday 3 March - Sunday 4 March 2007, is the Do Something Different weekend, which is entirely designed for families to engage in a magnitude of events: workshops, free activities, lunchtime performances, a chill-out zone, drop in activities and sing-alongs.

The weekend showcases everything Barbican Education has been offering in the past 25 years. With a spirit of celebration all around the foyers, the weekend gives visitors the opportunity to engage in something they’ve never tried before.

Movie Marathon:
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March
This event brings professional filmmakers for some of our well-loved film activities. From drop-ins and workshops to large-scale animation making, or simply chilling out in front of a big screen showcase.

Ready, Steady, Build: Architecture workshops for families:
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March, 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Using the Alvar Aalto exhibition as an inspiration, families make their own 3D architecture and design models with professional architects.

Rhythm and Rhyme:
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March
The nation’s favourite poets, writers and storytellers weave wonders with words for children and adults. Plus, Conservatory Concert for literature lovers great and small. Conservatory events.

Tread the Boards:
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March
Families can make masks, run away with the circus and pull strings with professional puppeteers. They can also try out a range of theatrical techniques and watch the balletic Bellboys in action. Workshops.

The Bellboys (Les Grooms):
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March, 3.00pm
The Bellboys take over the Barbican foyers with a street ballet, liberally inspired by various Russian symphonic works, performed by a brass band and two classical dancers.

Barbican Explorers:
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March
Families can pick up free Explorer packs and follow a special trail around the nooks and crannies of the Barbican to discover things they never knew.

Take Art:
Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March
Take a small part in a big piece of art! Drop-in and make your mark.

Big Dance:
Saturday 3 March, 11.00am
Children and their families learn different styles of dance.

Big Sing:
Sunday 4 March, 11.00am
Families sing music from across the globe.
