Protein Dance Present Big Sale

21st January 2007 Print
Protein Dance Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre welcomes back Protein Dance with their new show, BIG SALE, a hilarious satirical new show from one of the UK’s most inventive dance-makers, Luca Silvestrini.

BIG SALE is a mix of high-energy performance, pop music, props and live video which critiques celebrity and consumer culture. The junkyard-playground stage set becomes a catwalk, a TV studio, a late-night hangout and even a war zone. The shows characters, created by a cast of seven international dancers, become political prisoners, TV hosts, market traders and sex workers.

Silvestrini continues his creative relationship with long-time collaborators, composer David Coulter (musical director of The Margate Exodus), lighting designer Michael Mannion and Richard Strange (who performed in Robert Wilson’s The Black Rider). The set designed by James Cotterill and film by Adam Seaman.

This year, Silvestrini made it into The Guinness Book of Records as the choreographer of the Big Dance Class which was danced by nearly 9000 people around the UK.
