Marianne Faithfull To Play Two UK Dates

21st February 2007 Print
Marianne Faithful Marianne Faithfull plays at the Pigalle Club in London’s Piccadilly on Monday 19th March, her first UK concert since recovering from breast cancer at the end of last year. The show is part of Faithfull’s Songs of Innocence and Experience European tour which opens in Hungary on Monday 12th March.

The tour ends with a headlining appearance at the Women’s Arts International Festival at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, Cumbria, on Friday 4th May.

Other dates include concerts in France, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Lativa.

Tickets for the Pigalle show cost £60.00 each and are available from seetickets.com.

Faithfull’s performance in Kendal is the opening night of the three-week Women’s Arts International Festival, which will also include performances by such artists as Patti Smith, Bettye LaVette, Peggy Seeger, Sandie Shaw, Alice Russell, Joan As Police Woman, Thea Gilmore and Kathryn Williams. Marianne was diagnosed with cancer at the end of September last year and underwent surgery in France the following month. Because the disease was caught at its very earliest stages, however, no further treatment has been necessary and she is making a rapid return to full health.

Marianne was originally due to have embarked on a three month tour of Europe and North America at the start of October 2006. These concerts have now been re-scheduled with the announcement of the European schedule.

She says: “It has been an extraordinary experience and, in many ways, extremely positive. I didn’t realise how many true friends I had. I feel so lucky and loved and thank everybody for all their good thoughts.”
