First Lady Of Crime Returns To The Lowry

Lost in the fog on a lonely road, a stranger seeks refuge in a nearby house, only to find that he has stumbled onto the scene of a murder! When the dead man’s wife confesses to killing her much despised husband, the stranger agrees to provide her with an alibi. But, who is he really protecting? And, in a house full of suspects, whose are the unidentified fingerprints found at the scene?
Credited as one of Agatha Christie’s most mischievous and chilling whodunits, The Unexpected Guest is filled with all the suspense, intrigue and surprise twists that make Christie one of the world’s best-loved authors and the undisputed first lady of crime.
The cast is led by film star and TV veteran Simon MacCorkindale, whose first foray into the world of Agatha Christie was when he played the charming and cunning murderer in a major 1978 movie version of Death on the Nile. Simon is currently taking a sabbatical from his pivotal role as Consultant Harry Harper in Casualty.
Joining Simon is Dean Gaffney, best known for his role as Robbie Jackson in Eastenders and also for appearing as a celebrity bar manager in reality TV series The Club. Tracey Childs also appears, who most recently starred in Born And Bred and is equally well known for her role in the TV series Howard’s Way. Returning to the Agatha Christie Theatre Company for a second time is Frazer Hines from Emmerdale and Doctor Who.
