Dinosaurs Come Alive At The Science Museum
This summer dinosaurs will be coming to life on the only screen big enough to play host to them in the new IMAX film, Dinosaurs Alive! 3D, which will be showing at the Science Museum IMAX 3D Cinema in South Kensington from 26 May 2007.Dinosaurs Alive! 3D follows leading palaeontologists from the American Museum of Natural History as they embark on a major expedition, ranging from the sand dunes of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert to the dramatic sandstone buttes of New Mexico, to find some of the greatest dinosaur remains in history.
Through the magic of state-of-the-art 3D computer-generated animation, the film allows viewers to see fossils found by the team transformed into scientifically accurate ‘living’ dinosaurs on the giant IMAX screen. Featuring more than eight different species of dinosaur, from the creatures of the Triassic Period to the monsters of the Cretaceous, the 3D animation allows viewers to get closer to these creatures than ever imagined.
Highlights of the film include a ferocious battle between a Velociraptor and a Protoceratops, locked in combat as a sand dune sweeps over them and kills them. The remarkable fossil of these fighting dinosaurs shows that they died in a deadly embrace, claws and jaws still grasping at each other.
The Science Museum’s IMAX 3D Cinema Manager Dick Vaughan said, ”Through the use of this fantastic 3D computer-generated imagery, Dinosaurs Alive! 3D will give our visitors the chance to travel back in time and come face to face with these amazing pre-historic beasts, complementing our mission of taking visitors to places they can only dream of.”
Dinosaurs Alive! 3D will be showing in London exclusively at the Science Museum.
