Kasabian Announce Glastonbury Warm Up Show

Kasabian have announced details of a pre Glastonbury Warm Up Show at the Newport Centre, Wales on Thursday 21st June 2007. The band has chosen to do this show in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that the band fully supports.

Kasabian headlined a night at the week long series of Teenage Cancer Trust gigs at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall on 29th March 2007, the charity is also strongly supported by their friend Noel Galllagher of Oasis.

Tom Meighan says “It’s great we can support Teenage Cancer Trust and help them make a difference. After meeting some of the teenagers with cancer at the Albert Hall gig, it really made us want to do more and this show will help the cause, we hope to do more with TCT in the future.”

Roger Daltrey, The Who and Patron of Teenage Cancer Trust said of Kasabian;"I'd like to thank Kasabian for all the support they give to Teenage Cancer Trust. The night they did for us at the Royal Albert Hall will be remembered as one of the top ten rock gigs of the year. Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) is working to create better services for young people with cancer by providing dedicated teenage units in NHS hospitals. Units provide an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation allowing patients to build friendships and mechanisms to cope with their disease and are boosting survival rates by up to 15%.

TCT has just started building work on its first Welsh unit at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. The £3m unit is TCT’s most ambitious project to date and will be complete and operational by 2008. Funds raised from the Warm Up Show will go towards TCT’s Welsh unit.

2006 was a mammoth year for the band releasing their second massive album ‘Empire’ culminating in their first sold out Arena Tour at Christmas a full arena tour in December, 2007 looks to be yet another great chapter in the book of Kasabian.
