Stephanie Beacham Stars In West End Hit 'Hay Fever'

2nd May 2007 Print
Hay Fever 'Hay Fever' is certainly in the air at Richmond Theatre, but this is the variety that audiences will want to catch, as Noel Coward’s classic comedy of bad manners will be a real treat.

Audiences are invited to the country home of the eccentric Bliss family - Judith (Stephanie Beacham) a recently retired stage actress, David (Christopher Timothy) a self-absorbed novelist, and, their two equally bohemian children - all of whom live in their own world where the boundaries between reality and fiction are extremely blurred.

Upon entering this domain their unsuspecting weekend guests - an upright diplomat, a shy flapper, an athletic boxer, and a fashionable sophisticate - are repeatedly thrown into wildly melodramatic situations by their hosts. The resulting pandemonium is a joy to witness!

Much loved TV personality Stephanie Beacham boasts a long and illustrious stage and screen career on both sides of the Atlantic. Most recently seen as Phyl Oswyn in ITV’s 'Bad Girls', Stephanie is also famed for playing roles such as Sable Colby (Joan Collins’ plotting cousin) in 'Dynasty' and its subsequent spin-off 'The Colbys', and for starring in the BBC hit drama 'Tenko'.

Christopher Timothy became a household name playing vet James Herriot in 'All Creatures Great And Small'. He has seldom been off our screens since, most recently creating the leading role of Dr ‘Mac’ MacGuire in the BBC daytime drama 'Doctors'.

This critically acclaimed production follows a hugely successful sell out season at The Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End.

The full cast includes Stephanie Beacham as Judith Bliss, Christopher Timothy as David Bliss, Madeleine Hutchins as Sorel Bliss, William Ellis as Simon Bliss, Sarah Berger as Myra Arundel, Andrew Hall as Richard Greatham, Christopher Naylor as Sandy Tyrell, Emily Pollet as Jackie Coryton and Pamela Buchner as Clara.

Produced by Bill Kenwright; Joe Harmston directs the Peter Hall production. Design by Simon Higlett with sound by Gregory Clarke and lighting by Paul Pyant.
