Twelfth Night At Chichester Festival Theatre

19th June 2007 Print
From dark and bloody tragedy to love, romance and mistaken identities, the cast of Chichester Festival Theatre’s Macbeth will take to the stage again from 14 July in Twelfth Night.

With Shakespeare at the heart of Festival 07, Twelfth Night in the Festival Theatre and Macbeth in the Minerva offer an opportunity to experience the actor’s craft at close quarters as one cast takes on multiple roles across two spaces during one season.

Patrick Stewart will play Malvolio in this large scale Shakespeare with Scott Handy as Sir Andrew Aguecheek and Michael Feast as Feste. Kate Fleetwood appears as Olivia, Laura Rees as Viola, Ben Carpenter as Sebastian, Suzanne Burden as Maria, Paul Shelley as Sir Toby Belchand Martin Turner as Orsino.

Chichester Festival Theatre‘s Associate Director, Philip Franks directs this production. Franks also co-directed the two-part epic hit of Festival 06, Nicholas Nickleby, which returns later this year prior to an international tour. Most recently, Franks directed The Duchess of Malfi at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. As an actor, Philip Franks worked alongside Patrick Stewart at the RSC in 1981.

Twelfth Night opens at Chichester Festival Theatre on 14 July and runs in repertoire with Hobson’s Choice until 31 August.
