Wok ‘N’ Roll - T In The Park Launches Healthy T Area

3rd July 2007 Print
T In the Park They are not names that you would usually associate with a music festival, but eight top chefs including Michelin star holder Martin Wishart, David Romanos (Head chef, Oloroso) and BBC’s The Hairy Bikers are the latest big additions to this year’s T in the Park line-up as part of the all-new Healthy T Area.

The Healthy T Area, supported by the Scottish Executive and Albert Bartlett, will open on 7th & 8th July allowing festival goers to enjoy simple, quick, healthy and tasty food in a relaxed environment.

Located beside the Pet Sounds Arena, festival goers can recharge themselves by choosing a wide range of healthier products including fresh organic foods, salad & pasta, fresh fruit smoothies, crepes, delicious salads & fruit, seafood and baked potatoes.

And if music fans need a bit of inspiration, they can whet their appetite by watching demonstrations from the chefs cooking up some healthy grub. Joining The Hairy Bikers, David Ramonos and Martin Wishart will be Glen Yorke (Senior Sous Chef Thistle Hotel), Ali Stewart (Consultant Chef, Oloroso), Kelly Robertson (Head Pastry Chef, Thistle Hotel) and Martin Lutti (Owner and Head Chef of the award winning Red Onion in Crieff).

In no time at all, the chefs will rustle up some delicious dishes including Tuna Nicoise Salad, Punjabi Spiced Salmon, Tacos al Pastor, Venison Burgers, Funky Chunky Fruit Kebabs and Melon Frappe.

Says Geoff Ellis, Festival director: “Over the last few years, cooking has become the new rock n roll with TV chefs showing that healthy eating is much easier than people think. T in the Park is the perfect arena in which to teach young people a few new tricks when it comes to preparing healthy food quickly.”

Comments Elaine McGregor of the Health Improvement Strategy Division: “The Scottish Executive is delighted to be supporting the healthier eating zone at T in the Park as part of its Healthy Living Campaign. This is an opportunity to highlight to a wide audience how easy it can be to prepare healthy, balanced meals that are quick, cheap and delicious. It’s also important to provide variety and choice of food outlets at these big events. This way demand for healthier food options can increase naturally.“

The Healthy T Area will be opened all day Saturday and Sunday with the demonstrations taking place between 12 noon and 7pm both days. Campers can also get their day off to a great start with healthy breakfast options available throughout the campsite.
